This healthy aata chilla recipe can be made in a few minutes using very simple ingredients that are always available in our kitchens. If you have less time in the morning to prepare yourself, then this breakfast is the best for you.
Ingredients to make atte ka chilla recipe at home?
- 1½ cups whole wheat flour/atta
- ¾ cup yoghurt/dahi (optional)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 medium green capsicum, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 medium yellow bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 small carrot, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 boiled potato mashed (optional)
- 2 green chillies finely chopped (according to your taste)
- ½ teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
- salt to taste
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric/haldi powder
- ¼ teaspoon dry mango/amchur powder (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon garam masala powder (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon cumin/jeera powder (optional)
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder (according to taste)
- ½ teaspoon carom seeds/ajwain (optional)
- Mustard oil or your favourite oil for cooking
- water to prepare the batter
Main Equipment Used to make Atte ka Chilla recipe:
- Tefal Non-Stick, or Tawa that is easily available at home.
- Gas stove and fire (just chill pill 😂)
Steps by step process to make healthy Aate Ka Chilla recipe at Home:
- In a large bowl, add whole wheat flour, curd. Now add a little water at a time and mix till it forms into a smooth batter. Batter consistency should be medium, not very thick nor runny. You must maintain the same consistency as given in this point in all steps. You can replace curd with water to make the proper batter.
- Now add all the finely chopped vegetables like onions, capsicum, tomatoes, yellow bell pepper, mashed boiled potato, green chillies, fresh coriander and mix well.
- Further add all the dried spices, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, dry mango powder, garam masala and ajwain and mix till well combined. The batter is ready.
- In a pan over medium heat, add half a teaspoon of oil/ghee and then pour a large spoonful of atta chilla batter and spread it evenly into a round shape like we are making a roti or chapati.
- You can cover it with a lid or cook it without a lid on the tawa and cook it for 2-3 minutes on each side by flipping from both sides.
- Serve immediately with curd, chutney or tomato ketchup or anything you like, tea, coffee, etc.
Recipe Notes
- Add any vegetables of your choice, already mentioned in this blog about optional things that you can add in your recipe.
- Don’t make very large chillas, or else it will be difficult to flip them.
